Executive Director - Helen Loftin
On November 1st, 2021 Helen joined the Guelph Wish Fund for Children as Executive Director. Prior to her return to Guelph, she worked internationally as well as locally in a career that spans 35 years.
Helen began her career in her family construction business while maintaining a passion for approaching community and social development work from a compassionate business perspective. She subsequently received an MBA in 2005 and began her work in international economic development – initially with CARE Canada in India, but then, for over 13 years, with the Mennonite Economic Development and Associates (MEDA), in Waterloo. She has lived and worked in such places as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Libya, Myanmar, Haiti and several other countries.
After recent brief stints at the City of Guelph as General Manager of the Economic Development Department and Reception House Waterloo Region, she is extremely pleased to be part of the team at the Guelph Wish Fund for Children, and to be contributing to the Guelph and Wellington County community by making the lives of local children who face significant medical challenges, a little happier through granting wishes that ease their path through this world.
Helen, a mother of 2 and Nanna to six grandchildren, is also an active volunteer in local sports and community organizations.
