Tomorrow (Sat. Feb. 17th), Linamar Corp in Guelph is hosting a Curling for Kids Bonspiel in support of the Guelph Wish Fund for Children. This annual event has raised over $420,000 over the years for wish kids in Guelph and Wellington County who face serious, life-altering medical conditions.
The Curling for Kids Bonspiel hosts over 30 teams for a day of fun, with all proceeds from registration, sponsorships and a silent auction, going to the Guelph Wish Fund for Children.
The Guelph Wish Fund for Children provides ‘wishes’ and support to children under the age of 19, residing in Guelph or Wellington County, who are living with a significant illness, life-altering injury or a rare and debilitating syndrome. This year the Guelph Wish Fund for Children is celebrating its 40th year of serving families in Guelph and Wellington County – completing over 455 wishes for children over the years.
For this year’s event, speakers include Wish Fund founder Ron Asselstine, and a wish family who will also address the gathering.
Of particular note, this year a Travis Kelce football jersey that has been signed by both Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, will be part of the auction items available. This jersey is provided by Scottie (Nine Toe) Johnston who is affiliated with the New England Patriots and deals in sports memorabilia (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gK5LGS-J9HI) .

There are still dozens of other items available for in person bidding, in person bidding will be closing at 4:45pm the day of the event. *For all of the sports memorabilia that is auctioned off tomorrow, proceeds will be divided between the Guelph Wish Fund for Children and the Oakville Fare Share Food Bank & Halton Women’s Crisis Shelter.
