Mason came to the Wish Fund as a teen struggling with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) and facing some significant physical and mental challenges from this disease. Despite all how FASD can make life challenging, Mason maintains a can-do attitude and tries his best as he pursues his ambitions.
Upon becoming a Wish Kid, Mason got a specialized watch that helped him cope with some of his disease's physical and emotional effects. But his bigger dream was much more exciting. He wanted to meet his hero, Auston Matthews.
With the help of our founder, former NHL linesman Ron Asseltine, the Maple Leaf organization, and our local friends at Red Car Service, Mason’s dream came true last month with a special invitation to attend a Leafs’ practice, as well as the chance to hang out with Auston Matthews and some of his teammates in the dressing room. And, of course, attend the game that night where the Leafs won 4-1 over Detroit. What a day for a fantastic kid!
“Thanks for making my dreams come true. I had a great time and will never forget it. Thanks so much❤️😊 From Mason “
