To our Guelph Wish Fund for Children community:
At this unprecedented time, it is our sincere hope that you and your family are keeping well. As the COVID19 situation continues to develop both in our community and around the world, the health and wellbeing of our staff and Wish Families is our top priority. The Guelph Wish Fund for Children is closely following recommendations from the Public Health Departments as well as the Government of Ontario. If you are one of the heroic few who are working out in the world to keep others healthy, safe, or fed, we want to thank you sincerely for your courage and devotion to the greater good.
As we take in new information day by day, hour by hour, we feel more strongly than ever about our organization’s duty to contribute to the common effort and support the health of our community. Our commitment to the Guelph Wish Fund for Children's long-term vitality is paramount for us all, and this means supporting Wish Families and our staff. Fortunately, our staff has always worked from their homes, so their work will continue as usual for the most part. Sharon Rice continues to work with our existing families and, as we are still accepting referrals, new intakes will be managed remotely.
We are grateful to the Board of Directors for their careful stewardship of the organization’s finances over the past several years so that we can weather this storm. However, our current planned fundraising and community events need to be put on hold. To that end, the Board of Directors has made the difficult but prudent decision to cancel our up-coming June 19th Golf Tournament for the safety of our community. This decision was taken with great care. Although we won’t be gathering in person in June, there are other ways you can support our Wish Kids.
