There are moments at the Guelph Wish Fund for Children that stop us in our tracks — not because they are loud or dramatic, but because they quietly remind us why this organization exists.

One of those moments happened earlier this year.

A local family was referred to us while their child was undergoing cancer treatment. Hospital visits, medications, and mounting medical needs had quickly reshaped their entire world. As the months went on, the child’s mom made the heartbreaking decision to leave her job so she could provide full-time care.

Along with the emotional toll, the financial strain became overwhelming — specialized medical equipment, uncovered expenses, travel costs, and day-to-day bills that don’t pause just because a child is sick.

But through the generosity of our community, something shifted. Financial pressure was eased. And this family was given something just as important as practical help — the reassurance that they were not facing this journey alone.

Because of You

Because of supporters like you, children facing serious illness ​are met with compassion, dignity, and hope when they needed it most. Families were supported during the most uncertain chapters of their lives, and parents were given the space to focus on what mattered most: being present for their child.

In 2025, donor generosity helped make possible:

• Over 63 meaningful wishes tailored to each child’s unique needs

• Essential medical and adaptive equipment for children living with complex conditions

• Relief for families navigating financial strain while caring for a seriously ill child

• 19 new wish children enrolled into our program with severe medical illnesses

• Moments of joy, normalcy, and connection, including family vacations to Disney World and other Caribbean destinations

• Over 250 family members supported because of your impact

  
  

But numbers only tell part of the story.

This year, our community showed up not just through donations, but through connection. You shared stories, attended events, supported our fundraising efforts, and reminded us that this work is deeply personal. 

Family stories remind us why this work matters. Community partners showed us what’s possible when people come together. Each wish granted reflects the heart of a community that truly cares.
