Ethan was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was 2 years old and won't be finished his treatment until just before his 5th birthday.
His parents took him into the Guelph General Hospital emergency room on August 15, 2022 because he was experiencing a lot of odd bruising and slight jaundice. They did his blood work and transferred him right away to McMaster.
The next day, we heard the words no parent should ever hear, "your son has cancer."Ethan was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) with a genetic mutation known as Philadelphia Chromosome (Ph+).
Ethan has endured more than most do in a lifetime, with over 20 sedated procedures, blood and platelet transfusions, too many to count chemotherapy treatments; including 2 oral chemos daily, tests, scans, hospital admissions, pokes and prods. But, he has endured each challenge with patience and grace. He is my daily inspiration; a brave warrior.
Ethan was only 5 months old when the pandemic hit, and being diagnosed with cancer towards the end of the pandemic really didn't allow for him to have very much opportunity to just be a kid!
We are so grateful to be welcomed to Guelph Wish Fund, and are excited to plan our first ever family vacation!
